Techfest 2010

Techfest 2010, three days worth remembering. I was working in the Exhibitions and my job was to take care of the foreign exhibitors and to maintain a smooth crowd flow in the Exhibition hanger and to make sure that maximum number of people could see all the exhibitions. Working alongside me, to my relief, were Saloni, Aashimi and Sham with other coordinators and organizers (Freshers). For me the Techfest began with the shack publi a week before. We made an awesome model which was displayed right outside the shack (Aarav owes us a treat for that :P). Just the day before the Techfest we went and met Neil and Glen, who were exhibiting the Nature's Raincoats. We helped them setup the LAN settings in the Guest House and their exhibition that evening. The next day (Techfest Day 1) began with me getting up late, I hurried to the hanger just to find that things were running smooth. I was amazed to see the number of people. It wasn't more than a hundred compared to the three hundred people waiting in the sun I had seen the previous year. I realized it was a Friday and that the working junta wasn't there yet. I entered the hanger (Back door entry for coordinators ) and found Saloni, Sham and Aashimi there. They were afraid ( because Aarav seemed angry :P) and i assured them that Aarav was just frustrated because of the same repeated (and dumb) questions by the visitors. Having not eaten anything since the morning, all of us were hungry and were waiting for the food to arrive, which eventually arrived at 2 and I didn't get a chance to eat before 3. CP came in around that time and asked us to go and play the Lazer Tag and we sneaked out and went to play the Lazer Tag. After around an hour (it was hard to persuade the coordies there to let us in) we got in and played the LAZER TAG. It was an experience in itself, Lazer tag was infinitely better than painball. After playing the lazer tag we went to the OAT for forming the human chain for the Technoholix. The 3D hologram was boring but the MAD mountain bikers were pretty awesome. Thus ended the first day of Techfest. I went along my seniors and played DotA the entire night in the Gaming Zone and had to leave straight to the hanger from there. I went to the hanger, Setup some stalls and soon had to leave for Bandra. I came back at around 1 and went straight to the hanger. As soon as I reached the KV grounds, I could see a long queue waiting right outside the hanger. I was sleep deprived and i knew that it was going to get even worse. I went in and started regulating the " Infinitely curious about everything" people. There werent enough organizers and hence I took aid of my Mood Indigo organizers. They came and helped and things got slightly better. I talked to many exhibitors that day including Jessica,Joseph,Alvin and Cedric. The day 2 ended and I went for the Technoholix. The Futuristic magic show and the martial artists were awesome. We had planned to take Cedric, Jakob, Martin and Neil for lazer tag that night but we left for Mochas and had a really awesome time there. We returned but were late for lazer tag and hence decided to do it the next day. And i came to my room to sleep. The next day was even harder as all those who hadn't seen the exhibitions till now had arrived and there were around 400 people waiting outside the hanger. After working hard continuously for six hours, it came to an end. We went to play Lazer tag with the exhibitors (though Jakob didn't play because of his pacifist and idealist nature, which i really admire) where Nidhi, Singh and Kart joined us. It was another awesome round. We went to the Technoholix after that and the Pa-li-tchi put a spellbinding show. We went and had fun in the food court with the entire Exhibitions team after beating up our managers Aarav and Avinash. After having a lot of fun and food we left for our hostel bringing an end to the Techfest 2010. Though we did enjoy the next two days with Jakob, Neil, Cedric, Martin and Matthew. This Techfest is one worth remembering and will always be with me .

PS: because i like ending everything i write with awesome quotes, “You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it. ” – Pursuit of Happyness (Movie)
